Jabberjaw

Jabberjaw Juggles School With Rap Career

I guess you could say it all started when Angie Horton, then 4 months pregnant, traveled to Sesser, Illinois for a rap concert featuring 2 Live Crew in September of 2004. No sooner had she entered the concert as she felt a sudden pain in her stomach. “It felt like Oakland Raider place kicker Sebastian Janikowski was practicing in my stomach,” Horton said of the pain.

Little did Mrs. Horton know at the time, but the legend of “JabberJaw” Horton had just begun to take form.

Now 6 years old, Jabberjaw has transformed himself into one of the nation’s elite young rap moguls. more...

Smashmouth

Settling in fine at the Ball fields

Who would ever group the town of Chelsea and the town of Akiachak, Alaska in the same sentence? Nobody, right? That's beginning to change as the legend of 5 year old Eli "SmashMouth" Williams begins to grow at the Chelsea Baseball Park. Akiachak, just happens to be the birth place of "Smashmouth." Williams was born in 2005 to Alaskan polar Bear hunters Ezra Matteson and Manny Consuelo. In the summer of 2008, "Smashmouth's" best friend from the village, U.S. foreign exchange student Garifoy Jarickson, showed him his Playstation 2 which happened to have a baseball video game with it. Life immediately changed for "Smashmouth." more...

Sherrie Guareneiri was announced as the winner of the Passport to Travel Scavenger Hunt

When Sherrie Guareneiri was announced as the winner of the Passport to Travel Scavenger Hunt, no one could have been more excited, or less surprised. "I knew I was going to win it", she said in a conversation with us after the drawing, still red faced and beaming with excitement. "My husband told me I was crazy for playing, but I kept telling him 'You just wait'..." Well, the waiting is over: let the cruising begin! more...

Chelsea's Very Own Champions!

Chelsea girls 8 and under bring home the state championship!

It was supposed to be one of the more stressful moments of 8 year old Chelsea all-star softball player Allie "Speedy"Miller's life. After all, she was standing in the batters box in the final inning of the state championship game against Millbrook with the game tied 7-7. Apparently "Speedy" never got the memo that she was supposed to be nervous. All she did was just rope a line drive to the left field fence to score Chloe "Sunshine" Eidson from second base and bring home Chelsea's first state championship. more...

Black Dawgs vs. Knockahomas

"Big D" Lays Down Bunt to Win Fall Ball Championship

Dawson "Big D" Ingram was just as shocked as anybody when his dad, Black Dawg head coach David Ingram, gave him the bunt sign when he stepped up to the plate on Sunday in the 9-10 age fall ball championship game against "The Knockahomas." "Big D" has a reputation for being a heavy hitter around the Chelsea Youth Fields. He'd never been asked to bunt before. more...
